The Black Star Project's 30th Anniversary Celebration

Join us for a special afternoon celebrating 30 years of The Black Star Project and the people who have helped make three decades of service, advocacy, education, and community empowerment possible.

Founded in Chicago in 1996 by Phillip Jackson, The Black Star Project began with a bold vision: to help close the racial academic achievement gap and create greater opportunities for Black and Brown students, families, and communities. What began as a small mentoring initiative has grown into a nationally recognized movement rooted in education, family engagement, youth development, and community action.

For three decades, The Black Star Project has worked alongside students, parents, educators, mentors, and community leaders to help young people thrive. From tutoring and mentoring to college preparation, parent advocacy, workforce development, and initiatives that bring fathers and families into the educational journey, the organization has remained committed to a simple but powerful belief: when we invest in our children, we invest in the future of our communities.

Now, we gather to celebrate that legacy—and to look ahead.
